Without Habitat There’s No Wildlife
The wildlife and its habitat cannot speak, so we must and we will.
The Community of Lake Village is recognized as a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Our Community joined a greater American cause in protecting and preserving our cherished landscapes and wildlife. This certification defines and shapes our Community’s character and identity for generations to come. Protecting our natural resources is a cause that has long united Americans from all walks of life and political stripes. To anglers, hikers, birders, wildlife watchers, gardeners, forest stewards, and other outdoor enthusiasts, this conservation ethic represents a sacred duty and obligation to protect and build upon our conservation heritage for the sake of wildlife, ourselves, our neighbors, and—most of all—for future generations. Our native pollinators comprising of bees, butterflies, moths, and other insects, as well as hummingbirds and even bats are ecologically important—yet many native pollinators, due to threats like habitat loss and pesticide use, are in crisis. Rapid and large-scale changes to our lands and waters mean wildlife are losing the habitats they once knew. Every habitat garden developed in Lake Village is a step toward replenishing resources for wildlife such as bees, butterflies, birds, and amphibians—both locally and along migratory corridors.
